I enjoyed, so much, reading Becky Beck’s latest book, Finding Joy in The Grief Cycle. It has now been 22 years since we lost our first born daughter, at age 32, in the prime of her life. She had a very successful career, was engaged to be married, and seemed happier than she had ever been, but this beautiful life was snuffed out by a drunk driver. For more than three years I was full of hate for the young man who seemingly, without remorse or thought, chose to drive while intoxicated, killing our daughter. I wish I had this book back in 2001 as I was stuck in anger, depression, and denial. There are so many thoughts and feelings that this book ignites or will ignite in the reader, even when tragedy has numbed their senses. Even after 22 years, I experienced many tears as I read this book. Becky brings the Savior and His teachings to life, giving praise and adoration where it belongs. She has a special talent to put into words such deep and meaningful emotions and thoughts.

Praise for Finding Joy in The Grief Cycle

Finding Joy in The Grief Cycle is short, thought provoking, and to the point. It is raw and real, yet full of hope. Each chapter contains helpful questions to ponder and simple invitations to act on to facilitate moving forward through the grief cycle. The principles discussed are based on scripture and beautifully express how anyone can invite Jesus into their grief, ultimately turning mourning and lamentation into joy through Him.

Even though it has been 65 years since our six-day-old baby died and the comfort and peace you speak of have been my abiding blessing throughout these years, I felt a renewed and even strengthened sense of joy as I read and pondered your tender, beautiful message.
Even more important, you as a fellow sufferer you have taught me with your heart. For being real, open and vulnerable, thank you.

Finding Joy in The Grief Cycle is a very insightful look into dealing with one of the inevitable moments in life: the death of a loved one. As I’ve had the opportunity to bury both of my parents, my brother-in-law and my father-in-law I wish this well defined process of mourning and grief would have been available a few years ago. I highly recommend a serious reading and study of The Grief Cycle process to help make this time in our lives much easier for us to cope, heal, recover, and celebrate the lives of our loved ones.
